Root Database FAQ
English
Q: How do I create an account?
A: The site uses Discord OAuth to automatically create an account for you. All you need is to be a member of the Woodland Warriors Discord and click login. Discord will ask you to confirm the authorization and then you’re all set!
Q: How do I edit my faction on the site?
A: When you are logged in there should be an edit button in the top right corner of the faction's page. If you do not see this option you can submit a feedback request (link in the bottom left corner) to get your account updated.
Q: I only see official factions, is there any Fan Content on the site?
A: Yes! If you only see official Factions, edit your profile in the top right corner. Make sure the box marked "Show Fan Content" is checked.
Q: I'm only seeing "Stable" factions, why can’t I see older Fan Content?
A: All fan content should be visible by default, but in the profile settings there is a visibility preference. Check this setting and make sure the option you want is selected.
Q: All the text appears in another language, how do I fix it?
A: If you are not logged in there is a translation button in the top right of the site header, click it to select another language. If you are logged in, go to settings and choose your preferred language. When available, factions will display in the selected language.
Q: Can I submit my own Faction?
A: Yes! We would just ask that anything submitted to the site go through a few tests first and that you plan to develop it further. Each faction should have at least one link to a BGG post, Discord Thread, TTS Simulator Mod or PNP files so that others can find it easily. On the workshop page, click "New Post" and include as much detail as you can. An Admin will review and approve your post.
Q: How do I record a game?
A: Press Record game on the Battlefield page and fill in the required information. Each seat with data must have a faction and either a score or dominance. You must select at least one winner, a map and a deck. If you are recording a solo playtest you should select yourself as the player of each faction. If you are playing a coop game against Clockwork factions, do not select a player for the bots and select either all bots or all humans as winners.
Q: I'm recording a game, but a player does not have an account, can I still add them?
A: Yes! You can leave the player field blank if you wish. But if you want to record the player you can register a new player by clicking the “Register New Player” button. Make sure you use their Discord username or make up a unique username to avoid duplicate entries.
Q: How do I get access to Weird Root links?
A: You must be a member of the Weird Root discord to view these links. If you are already a member, simply log in. If you would like to join, log in and request an invite. Invites are not automated, but you will get a message when your request is approved.
Q: What do the different statuses mean?
A: There are 4 statuses on The Root Database (Stable, Testing, Development, and Inactive). Each Faction has a progress bar towards becoming Stable, that can be viewed by clicking on the status button on the Faction's page.
Stable - The Faction has been tested and the designer considers it completed. In order for a designer to mark their Faction as "Stable" the Faction needs to be played in at least 10 games, win a game, lose a game, play on the official maps, against the official Factions with two of the official decks. You can check this progress by clicking on the current status of the Faction.
Testing - The Faction is currently being tested. Small changes might be made as the designer gains playtest data. To mark a Faction as "Testing" the Faction needs at least one game recorded on the site. If no games have been recorded or updates made to the Faction in 6 months the status will be changed to "Development".
Development - The Faction is currently being worked on and the designer is still making large changes. The designer can mark their Faction as in "Development" at any time. If a Faction in Development has not been updated in 6 months the status will be changed to "Inactive".
Inactive - The Faction is not currently being worked on. You can click on the status to see how much progress has been recorded, or check one of the links to see how recently the Faction had activity. A designer can mark their Faction as "Inactive" at any time.
Q: In the Law of Root, what do the different buttons do?
A: The copy button, two squares, copies the text of the law to your clipboard. The link button copies the exact link of the law for sharing. When shared a preview of the law will be visible.
Q: I submitted a game but need to change something. How can I edit the game info?
A: When viewing the game submit a feedback request in the bottom left of the page. If it's an easy change please include what needs to be fixed and an admin can fix it. If it's more involved the admin will be able to move your game to "in progress" so that you can change any details you need.
Q: I have a duplicate account on the site, how do I merge them?
A: Submit a feedback request with the discord names listed for both accounts. An admin will be able to combine the two accounts, but they might contact you if they need more information.
